Nu Jz concert poster, December 18, 1983

Order an Image
The poster pictured here advertises a concert by Nu Jz, featuring Julian Priester, Jay Clayton, Gary Peacok, and Jerry Granelli. The musicians released an album in 2009 as Quartett.

The show was held on Sunday, December 18, probably in 1983, at the Fabulous Rainbow Tavern, at 722 N.E. 45th Street in the University District. The Rainbow first opened at the same location as a beer parlor in 1936 by Frank Salvino (1902-1960). Throughout the 1960s-1980s the club was a hub for the local music scene, and hosted shows by Annie Rose and The Thrillers, The Young Fresh Fellows, Jr. Cadillac, Green River, Robert Cray, and Soundgarden.
