The Crescent Manufacturing Company was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1883 as Larsen Extract Company. By the early twentieth century, Crescent was manufacturing 75 different extracts including Mapleine, as well as importing spices, coffee, and nuts. Crescent was sold to McCormick and Company in 1989, and consolidated its operations in Kent, Washington in 1990.
This advertisement for Double Acting Crescent Baking Powder titled "Muffins all ready for the oven when the alarm rings!" features an illustration of a man reading at the table on the left and a woman carrying muffins out of the kitchen on the right, separated with a letter from Martha K. Look in the center extolling the baking powder's virtues in helping her provide hot muffins for her husband's breakfast.
