The San Juan Fish Company opened for business in 1898 along Railroad Avenue (now Alaskan Way) on the Seattle waterfront. Later renamed the San Juan Fishing & Packing Company, it was one of Seattle's largest and most successful canneries with production facilities in several Alaskan cities. The business was acquired by New England Fish Company in 1965 and is listed in city directories through 1967, in operation at South Stacy Street and East Waterway.
