Bumbershoot poster, Seattle, September 1-4, 1978

Begun as "Festival '71" in 1971, Seattle's Bumbershoot has become one of North America's largest urban arts festivals, held annually over Labor Day weekend at the Seattle Center.

The poster pictured here features a collage entitled "A Bumbershoot Collection," by Seattle-based artist Carl T. Chew (b. 1948), that was commissioned through the City of Seattle's 1% for Art Program.
