Bumbershoot poster, Seattle, September 3-6, 1982

Begun as "Festival '71" in 1971, Seattle's Bumbershoot has become one of North America's largest urban arts festivals, held annually over Labor Day weekend at the Seattle Center.

The poster pictured here features artwork by Fay Jones (b. 1936) a Seattle-based artist whose is known for the large number of her works that are exhibited in public places in the Pacific Northwest. This painting was commissioned for Bumbershoot through the City of Seattle's 1% for Art Program. The poster was designed by Dethlefs & Associates.
