Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) is an LGBTQ community chorus based in Seattle, Washington. The group was founded in 1979, and is one of the world's largest men choruses. Along with Seattle Women's Chorus, it is the largest community choral organization in North America.
This poster advertises the SMC 1988 Holiday Concert, held in Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus. The image of a man signing "take care" in American Sign Language (ASL), by photographer Mel Curtis, refers to the performance of Silent Night near the end of the concert. After singing each verse more quietly than the previous, the chorus stayed completely silent for the final verse, performing, in unison, a "graceful sign language interpretation of the song."
