Ben Paris fishing derby rules, 1936
Order an ImageBenjamin M. Paris (1884-1950) was an American sportsman, entrepreneur, and conservationist. His namesake store, the Ben Paris, was a combination restaurant, lounge, pool hall, pull-tab parlor, barber shop, sporting goods establishment, and was a Seattle institution for many years. Mr. Paris founded the first local fishing derby in 1931, the Seattle Ben Paris Salmon Derby.
The flier pictured here lists the rules for the 1936 Seattle Star - Ben Paris Salt Water Fishing Derby, which concluded on August 28. The grand prize winner, Chet Auld, caught a 37-pound, 9-ounce king salmon to win an 18-foot boat and outboard motor.
