In 1999, Michael Whistler performed his one-man show The Faggot Museum. Written by Whistler and directed by James Haskins at the Theatre Off Jackson, the play presented a series of monologues exploring men who "embody the faggot stereotype." Michael Whistler is a theater artist, playwright, and teacher who lived and worked in Seattle in the 1990s, but now lives in Philadelphia.

This poster advertises the play "The Faggot Museum: An evening of Gay men who talk too much" using a collage of images showing gender stereotypes such as muscle man, a male pin-up, the virgin Mary, and a woman in curlers, as well as a snapshot of two young boys with a pink thought bubble showing actress Barbara Eden in costume as the character "Jeannie." The poster lists the September 10 through October 2 run, with an additional "Pay-What-You-Can Benefit Preview" for the Seattle Lesbian Cancer Project on Thursday, September 9 at 8pm.
