Seattle Center, an area north of downtown Seattle, was developed for the 1962 World's Fair as a specific cultural and entertainment area that the city has continued to use for arts, sports, and community events. In the 1980s, this included several music and cultural events, such as the annual fiddle contest held at the Center House.
