This poster appears to promote two events in the winter of 1984-1985. In October 1984, a group of unidentified artists won a grant to build “a mixed media construction that would be a UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) landing site” on the roof of Seattle’s Comet Tavern on Pike Street. The December 27, 1984, UFO Landing Party may well be connected to that project.

Meanwhile, from December 17, 1984 - January 12, 1985, the Two Bells Tavern in Seattle’s Belltown hosted a solo exhibit of the silkscreened works of local artist Larry Knodel, who worked under the name of R. E. Beans. This poster may have been designed by R. E. Beans, or it may incorporate some of his art, but it is unsigned. The Two Bells had been a popular dive bar near the fire station in Belltown since 1943, and during the time of these events was becoming a venue for art. It closed at the end of 2017.
