Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheater is so named for the magnificent backdrop to the stage, a large scale glass mosaic by Northwest School artist Paul Horiuchi (1906–1999), commissioned in 1962 for the Century 21 Exposition (Seattle World's Fair). In the decades since the fair, the grounds have been operated by the city and hosts many public festivals and events throughout the year.

This poster advertises a series of outdoor concerts scheduled over the summer at the Mural Amphitheater. The concerts were free and sponsored by the Seattle Center, as well as four local radio stations that hosted shows on specific days - country station KRPM held shows on Saturdays from 1-3 pm, R&B station KKFX (named K-FOX from 1981-1993) held concerts on Saturdays from 6-8 pm, smooth jazz station KNUA held concerts on Sundays from 4-6 pm, and rock station KISW held shows on Mondays from 6-8 pm.
