Frank McCaffrey's New Dogwood Map of Seattle, 1934
Order an ImageIn 1919, artist, printer, publisher, and politician Frank McCaffrey (1894-1985) bought the Acme Press commercial publishing company in Seattle. In 1931 McCaffrey created Dogwood Press as an Acme Company trademark, which he would operate just a few months before his death. The press printed books, pamphlets, newspapers, and maps often by Seattle authors or about local history.
This pictorial map of Seattle follows an earlier Dogwood Press map in 1931 and includes a 14 chapter history of the city in the bottom and right margins of the map.
