Women's soccer in Washington State grew and flourished from the 1970s through the 1990s, with the development of multiple high school and college programs, and women's leagues. The Washington State Women's Soccer Association (WSWSA) was formed in 1974 with nine teams, and had already expanded to around 20 teams by the start of the 1975 season. The WSWSA soccer season began with a jamboree: a fun, non-competitive event to kick off the season.

On March 8, 1980, over 2500 female soccer players came to Marymoor Park in Redmond for the second annual WSWSA women's soccer jamboree. Teams played games simultaneously on numerous fields at the park. In this photo, players on two teams shake hands after a game.
