On August 26, 1990, a spontaneous peace rally against US intervention in the Middle East developed after a "peace concert" at Gas Works park. A handful of protesters remained in the park overnight, and a 24-hour vigil dubbed "PeaceWorks Park" which would endure until nearly the end of the Gulf War in February 1991, was begun. The vigil had no official sponsor and the core of the protest was a group of around 25-50 activists taking shifts in the park around-the-clock. The group included peace activists, Vietnam veterans, and representatives from organizations such as the Freedom Socialist Party, Radical Women, Peace Heathens and others.
With contact information for PeaceWorks Park printed along the bottom, this flier relays the simple message of "Support the Troops. Bring Them Home," with a line drawing of a house below, and two olive branches surrounding the message.
