Poster for demonstration in Philadelphial, July 4, 1976
Order an ImageIn the 1970s, several anti-war and anti-capitalist student protest movements coalesced into the Revolutionary Student Brigade. Nationwide, a number of universities, including the University of Washington, had Brigade chapters.
As the 1976 Bicentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence approached, Brigade chapters urged members to travel to Philadelphia for marches and demonstrations. This UW poster strongly states the group’s ideas and notes the formation of a July 4th Organizing Committee to plan and to raise funds for those traveling to Philadelphia.
