This flier advertises an "SOS for Black Education" event hosted by the Freedom Socialist Party at New Freeway Hall in 1987. Speakers included Dawn Mason, Oscar Eason, Elizabeth Jackson, and Teri Bach.

Dawn Mason served in the Washington State Legislature from 1995-1999 and was the only Black member of the legislature during her terms. She was Ranking Chair of the Higher Education Committee and received an award in 1996 for her work ensuring access to higher education.

Oscar Eason, Jr. (1930-2017) was an activist and civil rights leader in Seattle. He was hired as an engineer by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1962, and faced discrimination from his mostly-white colleagues. Eason was national president of Black in Government from 1994-1998, was president of Seattle King County NAACP from 1999-2002, and chaired the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs.

Elizabeth Jackson (1931-2012) was an educator and anti-apartheid activist in Seattle. She worked at Seattle Public Schools as Vice Principal at Ingraham and Nathan Hale High School and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta.

Teri Bach (1944/5-2005) was one of the first female line workers at Seattle City Light. She worked for fair treatment of all employees and was described as "the backbone for all the minorities who worked there."
