This poster promotes a rally against the authoritarian regime of Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos, held on September 19, 1976 at the Jefferson Park Recreation Center. The event was held nearly four years after Marcos' declaration of martial law in the Philippines, and calls for immediate elections and an end to martial law. The poster celebrates the Philippine political tradition of "miting de avance" (from the Spanish phrase meaning "rally of progress"), a final campaign rally the night before an election. Miting de avance was forbidden during martial law and the poster looks forward to its return. The poster features a drawing of protesters carrying a Philippine flag and holding signs stating their demands for lifting martial law and holding elections, in both English and Filipino.

The rally was sponsored by the September 22 Coalition, Concerned Filipinos Against Martial Law, Union of Democratic Filipinos (KDP), and Friends of the Filipino People.
