The Seattle Hungarians soccer team first formed in 1956 after the arrival of Hungarian refugees to Seattle in the aftermath of the failed 1956 revolt against Communism. The Hungarians team was a hit with fans from the start, being skillful as well as entertaining players. In 1959, Balint Ducz, owner of a successful Burien bakery, took over sponsorship and management of the team. The Hungarians played in the Washington State League until 1970 except for the two seasons from 1962 to 1964, when they were admitted into the more competitive Pacific Coast League. The team disbanded after the retirement of Ducz in early 1970 after eleven successful seasons, in which the team won the state league title seven times.
