In this photo, incumbent Bill Burns, standing, speaks during a debate among the candidates for the Washington State House of Representatives District 43, Position 2. The other candidates at the neighborhood event were Jesse Wineberry, seated behind Burns, and Theresa Doherty, seated at left. The candidates debated the issues in the front yard of Allen Blaich at 210 16th Avenue in the Squire Park community, in front of a largely African American audience. Twenty-nine-year-old Wineberry won the seat in the November election, his first of five terms in the Washington State House of Representatives.
