In this image, spectators line Third Avenue in downtown Seattle to watch the 6th annual Santa Claus Parade. The parade theme was "1954 Story Book Parade," and featured 30 giant balloon floats. The train balloon in the center of the image was the largest in the parade, at 65 feet long and about 14 feet high. The balloons were escorted by hundreds of Seattle-area Boy Scouts, and 33 bands from Washington high schools, such as the Garfield marching band shown here, provided musical entertainment.
