Walter Taylor, owner of Rotary Bakery in the southern part of Pike Place Market, opened Rotary Grocery store in 1945 just off the main arcade of the market near Pike Street. In 1982, Taylor retired and sold the market to Chung Wong and his son Anthony "Tony" Wong. Father and son ran the business, and Tony was active in the Market community until the early 2000s, when the business was registered to Sae and Sang Song.

Tony Wong served on the Pike Place Market Association from 1989 until 1994, ending his tenure as vice-president. He was seen as a moderate voice on the association, advocating to keep rents for individual retailers at the market reasonable. This picture shows Mr. Wong standing in the entryway of his store shortly after he bought the store from Mr. Taylor in 1982.
