This image was taken as about 300 women, men, and children marched through downtown Seattle in observance of International Women's Day, and to demand equitable working conditions for all. The group assembled at the Federal Building and paraded to Westlake Center, where they listened to speeches, including one on the history of International Women's Day, which was established in Europe in 1910. Various women's rights groups and labor organizations supported the rally, including the National Organization for Women (NOW), Radical Women, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, and Come Off Your Old Tired Ethics (COYOTE), an organization for sex workers.
