The Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS) was founded by a group of University of Washington (UW) campus administrators, faculty members, and University District business leaders, with the goal of promoting global peace and understanding by extending hospitality and community connections to visiting international students. Incorporated on August 28, 1948, FIUTS is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the United States. As of 2019, FIUTS continues as a nonprofit organization based on the campus of the University of Washington, focused on promoting international understanding and community.
