The Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) is a museum dedicated to preserving and documenting the maritime history of the Pacific Northwest. CWB was founded by Dick Wagner in Seattle in the 1970s and has grown to include three sites; the South Lake Union campus in Lake Union Park, the Northlake Workshop & Warehouse at the North end of Lake Union, and The Center for Wooden Boats at Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island.

In this image Dick Wagner stands in front of the entrance to the Center for Wooden Boats at the south end of Lake Union. Born in New Jersey, Dick Wagner (1933-2017) moved into a floating home on Lake Union in the mid-1950s. Dick and his wife, Colleen (Luebke) Wagner began collecting small wooden boats as a means to teach maritime history and craft through direct experience, in particular to the disabled, the homeless, high-school dropouts, and others not typically involved with life on the water.
