Order an ImageThe Seattle Sounders were the first professional soccer team in Seattle, playing in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 to 1983. Here, Sounders player Mark Peterson celebrates after scoring one of his two goals during a game against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, leaving Tampa Bay goalie Jurgen Stars, at right, looking dejected. In November 1983, Tacoma native Peterson signed a two-year contract with the Tacoma Stars of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
