The Seattle Sounders were the first professional soccer team in Seattle, playing in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 to 1983. In 1977, the team beat the Los Angeles Aztecs to win the Pacific Conference Championship and reach the NASL Soccer Bowl, where they lost to the New York Cosmos.

Here, Sounders fans celebrate amid falling confetti after the Sounders defeated the Aztecs in the second of two games to win the Pacific Conference championship at the Kingdome.
