Woodland Sizzlers girls soccer team practice with coaches, Seattle, November 20, 1976

Order an Image
The Woodland Sizzlers were one of a growing number of Seattle-area girls soccer teams in 1976. The team was organized and coached by two mothers with no soccer experience who wanted their daughters to have a chance to play. The 8- and 9-year-old girls practiced twice a week after school and won two games in their first season. Here, Sizzlers organizers Jane Sears and Ruth Price work with players during a practice in Woodland Park.
