Félix Abraham Hernández, born in 1986 in Venezuela and nicknamed "King Félix," was a starting pitcher for the Seattle Mariners. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2005 at the age of 19. In 2011, a special cheering section for Hernández, dubbed "the King's Court," was created in Safeco Field by the left field foul area. On August 15, 2012, he threw the first perfect game in Seattle Mariners history and the 23rd perfect game in MLB history. As of 2022, Hernández holds the records for starts, wins, innings pitched, career ERA, and strikeouts by a Mariners pitcher and was inducted into the Mariner's hall of fame in August 2023.

Félix Hernández won his first MLB game on August 9, 2005, at home against the Minnesota Twins in his second outing. Hernández pitched eight shutout innings for a 1-0 win. In this photo from that game, Hernández leaves the mound after a third out.
