The Seattle Storm played the Connecticut Sun in the 2004 Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Finals, competing for the League championship. Both teams were making their first appearance in the finals. After tieing at a game apiece, the Seattle Storm won the championship in the third game, played on their home turf at KeyArena (now Climate Pledge Arena).

This photo shows Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird, with basketball, and a Connecticut Sun defender during the final game of the 2004 WNBA championship series. Bird had suffered a broken nose in a playoffs game two weeks earlier and played in the Western Conference Finals and Championship series wearing a protective face mask. Bird went on to win three more championships with the Storm and is the only WNBA player to claim four titles in three different decades.
