In September 2002 construction began on the Pioneer Motorcycle Museum in the Tacoma tide flats by the Thea Foss Waterway. Founder and CEO Marty Moloney created the museum as a way to exhibit his collection, host an on-site restoration and repair shop, and drive tourism to the largely industrial area. Unfortunately, the physical space was open only for a short period.

This image shows Marty Moloney posing at the Pioneer Museum of Motorcycles with Harley-Davidson bikes.
