Order an ImageBarbara Earl Thomas (b. 1948) is a Seattle-based artist, writer, and arts administrator. She attended Cleveland and Garfield high schools, then became interested in art while a student at the University of Washington, from which she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1977. Thomas works in paint, printmaking, cut paper, and large-scale installation. In addition to being a working artist, Thomas has also worked for the Seattle Arts Commission and the city’s Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs, directed the Bumbershoot festival, and served as the Executive Director of the Northwest African American Museum.
