Order an ImageOn May 16, 1997, the sixth annual Waterfront Triathlon was held in Seattle in Waterfront Park. Instead of the conventional triathlon events of swimming, cycling, and running, the Waterfront Triathlon featured a greased salmon relay, a tricycle race, and oyster basketball. This image shows triathlon competitor Maria Quennet in the oyster basketball event. Quennet is holding a greased 20-pound salmon while holding a chowder cup in her mouth and attempting to catch oysters thrown by her relay partner.
