In February 1997, the Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) and Ewajo Dance Workshop teamed up to introduce both classical and African dance forms to students at Rainier Beach High School. The PNB held classes at public schools as part of its Dance Chance Program, which was created to improve equity and access to classical dance training. Among the participating students at Rainier Beach High School were several members of the football team and other athletes, who saw possible benefits to their sports performance from learning dance.

Here, Chris Daigre of Ewajo Dance Workshop teaches students at Rainier Beach High School a dance sequence from the ballet "Lambarena,"' which combines African music with the music of J.S. Bach. As of 2024, Daigre continues to teach dance at his school danceDaigre, located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.
