Order an Image
The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a holiday traditionally celebrated by people of Mexican heritage. As with the related Christian holiday of All Souls Day, family and friends remember and pay respect to loved ones who have died. The Mexican holiday is joyful rather than solemn, with celebrations that often take a humorous tone.

This photo shows a Day of the Dead altar at the Mexican Consulate in downtown Seattle, featuring photographs, religious pictures, figurines, flowers, and offerings of food.
