Kenneth Gorelick, more widely known by his stage name Kenny G, is a saxophonist who focuses largely on smooth jazz. He was born in Seattle in 1956 and grew up in the Seward Park neighborhood. Gorelick attended Franklin High School and the University of Washington. He began playing professionally as a sideman for the Love Unlimited Orchestra while still in high school. Kenny G first signed with a record company in 1982 and quickly achieved commercial success, with several albums selling more than one million copies in the US. As of 2023, he has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
