Jeremy McMahon skateboarding at SEA-SK8, Seattle, August 27, 1993

Order an Image
On August 27, 1993, a new skate park named SEA-SK8 opened near Seattle Center. The original SEA-SK8 was built by the city and operated by the University Street Ministry and it included terrain for skaters of many skill levels. SEA-SK8 has been torn down and relocated several times since it first opened. As of 2022, it is across 5th Avenue from the Museum of Pop Culture.

This image shows Jeremy McMahon skating down SEA-SK8’s largest ramp. McMahon was photographed here on SEA-SK8’s opening day and he predicted the park would be very popular. Another photographer can be seen in the lower left, possibly shooting video footage of McMahon.
