Order an ImageThe first Pride Week was celebrated by Seattle's gay and lesbian community in June 1974. Now called Seattle Pride, this series of events is held annually in late June to celebrate LGBTQ pride in Seattle.
In 1993, the annual Pride parade on Capitol Hill roared to life with the Dykes on Bikes, a band of eclectic motorcyclists. This photo shows a leather-clad biker at the front of the parade, with the contingent of women on motorcycles behind her.
