The Little Saigon neighborhood of Seattle is centered around 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street at the eastern edge of the Chinatown - International District. The area has grown from a few businesses opened by Vietnamese immigrants in the late 1970s to become the social and economic hub of the Vietnamese-American community in the Puget Sound region.

In 1993, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer ran an in-depth article on Little Saigon's many businesses, with a particular focus on its restaurants and food markets. This photo of a Little Saigon establishment shows a man behind a deli counter holding out a banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich made on French-style bread with meat or other protein, fresh and pickled vegetables, and sauces. The man may be Nghia Nguyen,who is mentioned in the PI article, working at Thu Duc Deli.
