Order an ImageWhile boys' soccer teams existed since at least the 1910s, the popularity of youth soccer grew quickly during the 1960s, culminating in the formation of the Seattle Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) in 1969. Girls' soccer grew in the 1970s, and as of 2026, youth soccer in Seattle as overseen by SYSA is played by over 13,000 children.
