Order an ImageThis image shows storefronts in the West Kong Yick Building, located on South King Street between 7th Avenue South and Canton Alley (seen at far left). The West and East Kong Yick Buildings were constructed in 1910 by the Kong Yick Investment Company, which was made up of 170 investors from Chinese community around Seattle and led by Goon Dip. The Kong Yick Buildings formed the core of Chinatown in the early 20th century and were home to stores, restaurants, family associations, and single room occupancy hotels.
