Originally located on Denny Way, the Dog House restaurant was conveniently located for northbound travelers on Aurora Avenue, the Seattle section of Route 99. The Dog House restaurant and bar were also popular with locals. After the location was bypassed by the Battery Street tunnel in the 1950s, the restaurant moved nearby to Seventh Avenue and Bell Streets, where it remained until it closed in 1994.

In this image Dog House restaurant owner Laurie Gulbransen (1913-2000), who started as a waitress when the restaurant opened in 1934, stands outside near the sign for the restaurant shortly before the it closed on January 31, 1994.
