Originally located on Denny Way, the Dog House restaurant was conveniently located for northbound travelers on Aurora Avenue, the Seattle section of Route 99. The Dog House restaurant and bar were also popular with locals. After the location was bypassed by the Battery Street tunnel in the 1950s, the restaurant moved nearby to Seventh Avenue and Bell Streets, where it remained until it closed on January 31, 1994.

The Dog House had a large group of regulars, and even figured in at least one Seattle mystery novel series. Here, waitress Sophie Lambrou serves long-time customers Marion Cypert and Fred Elkins. Sophie had been walking the picket line during an eleven-day strike of Local 8 of the Hotel, Restaurant Employees, and Bartenders Union, and this was her first day back.
