Chinese girls drill team honoring war casualties at memorial ceremony, Seattle, May 30, 1961

In this image, members of the Seattle Chinese Community Girls Drill Team perform the "gin-lai,” the traditional three bows of respect, as a wreath is placed at the base of a memorial bearing the names of Chinese war dead. The whole Chinese community joined in the Memorial Day ceremony at Chong Wa Playfield at Eighth Avenue South and South Weller Street in the Chinatown - International District.
