This derelict railroad station in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood is located just east of the George Washington Memorial Bridge (commonly called the Aurora Bridge), which is visible in the background of this image. The small depot building was remodeled and is still standing at the foot of Stone Way North as of 2017. The station was probably part of the Seattle, Lake Shore, and Eastern Railway (SLS&E) line, built in 1888 across the stream that led west to Salmon Bay (widened in 1917 into the Lake Washington Ship Canal) and then followed the north shore of Lake Union to Lake Washington. In 1978 the railroad's route became the 27 miles of the King County Regional Trail System known as the Burke-Gilman Trail.
