Seattle's Woman's Century Club was founded in 1891 by suffragist Carrie Chapman Catt and nine other Seattle women. The club, still in existence, was both social and educational, and numbered many notable Seattle women among its members. For many years the group met in its own clubhouse on Capitol Hill. Here, in 1961, three long-time members gather by seven candles prepared for the club's 70th Anniversary tea. From left to right: Mrs. Percy Thomas, Mrs. C. B. Othick, club president, and Mrs. R. R. McCloy. Mrs.Thomas and McCloy are 25-year members and were honored at the tea.
