The Monks Club was a residential men's club that began May 1, 1904 at 321 Boren Avenue in what is now Seattle's Chinatown - International District neighborhood. The club maintained a boarding house that served as a "home away from home" for young unmarried businessmen. Membership in the club was also extended to nonresidents who gathered for social occasions. From 1915-1962 the club was located at 1334 Terry Avenue on First Hill; the club was officially dissolved in 1967.
In this image several club members and guests take a break from dancing during the club's annual spring informal to examine one of the monk's heads that hang over the club's library fireplace.
