The Monks Club was a residential men's club that began May 1, 1904 at 321 Boren Avenue in what is now Seattle's Chinatown - International District neighborhood. The club maintained a boarding house that served as a "home away from home" for young unmarried businessmen. Membership in the club was also extended to nonresidents who gathered for social occasions. From 1915-1962 the club was located at 1334 Terry Avenue on First Hill; the club was officially dissolved in 1967.

In this image club members and their guests enjoy the spring informal dance in the club's library. Former resident of the club Dr. Thomas P. Wall is identified at the left, dancing with his wife, Jean (Severyns) Wall (1916-2009), the daughter of Seattle sheriff William B. and Frances Margaret Severyns. Next to the Walls are Virginia Donnelly and Charles S. Martin. Robert Lodmell and Ann Fornalski are in the background, while Jacob Robb stands next to the fireplace. On the right are Patsy Gaynor and Gordon H. McLain.
