Seattle Police Tactical Squad at SeaFirst building, May 5, 1971
Order an ImageOn May 5 about 2,000 anti-war protesters marched through downtown Seattle streets in a demonstration planned by the Seattle Coalition for Peace and Justice. The protest began at 1:30 pm at Times Square on Fifth Avenue and Stewart Street and moved north. The only building demonstrators entered was the Seattle-First (SeaFirst) National Bank building on Fourth Avenue. They stayed a short time before police began using nightsticks to drive protesters off the plaza and sidewalk next to the bank.
