In this image, local American Indian activist Bernie Whitebear beats on a drum at a Pioneer Square rally in support of Native people occupying Wounded Knee, South Dakota. According the caption in the Seattle P-I, Whitebear also urged support for "all other Indian struggles throughout the nation."
