Mary Ann Peters is a Seattle artist whose work has been exhibited extensively across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. She has received the Stranger Genius Award in Visual Art, the Pollock Krasner Fellowship, and the Civita Institute Fellowship. Peters also received the Neddy Artist Award for visual artists in Washington State in 2000. Peters is a founder of the Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA), and a former board president of the National Campaign for Freedom of Expression.

In 1993, Mary Ann Peters was one of eight Seattle artists selected to create artwork for the new Port of Seattle Headquarters at Pier 69. Peters produced photo-etched steel tiles for a pillar, and a large painted mural on a free-standing wall extending 30 feet and spanning two open floors. This image shows Mary Ann Peters at work painting a peacock into her mural on part of the upper section of the wall.
